Matthew S. Ritchie, a founding partner of Collin, Ritchie & Ervin, has a long and distinguished career litigating divorce cases and post-decree cases (such as child support, custody, visitation, spousal support, etc.), and will fiercely advocate on a client’s behalf. At the same time, he is known for being a caring and even-handed attorney who puts the needs of his clients and their children first.
Mr. Ritchie’s experience includes representing either party in a divorce action, ranging from the most basic to the very complex. He is experienced at handling cases involving high net worth individuals, large estates, numerous properties, substantial business holdings, detailed financial analysis, extensive discovery, child custody, visitation, child support and spousal support. His primary goal is to achieve the most favorable outcome for each client, whether by settlement or aggressive representation at trial. While most cases ultimately settle, he maintains the realistic understanding that some cases cannot be settled. In these cases, he is educated and well prepared to bring the case to trial to present a client’s position in a forceful, yet professional manner.
Mr. Ritchie’s family law experience has led him to become very knowledgeable in the field of bankruptcy. Not only does he assist clients in the family law court he has successfully prepared and filed bankruptcy cases on behalf of newly divorced individuals as well as non-family law clients.
Mr. Ritchie has been representing clients throughout Sacramento, Placer and Yolo counties since 2000.
